Every March, the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum holds an induction ceremony in the Joseph A. Dugan Jr. Hall of Valor. This year’s event was held on Saturday, March 28, to honor seven military members from Pennsylvania. They join over 700 veterans already recognized in this important collection of American military history.

NFL Draft Trivia
From April 23 to 25, Pittsburgh welcomes the NFL Draft back for the first time since 1948. During three action-packed days at Point State Park and Acrisure Stadium, 257 players will be chosen over seven rounds. The Steelers are set to make their move with the 21st pick.

Of Two Minds
Did you know that back in the mid-1800s doctors did not wash their hands between examining patients? In 1847, Ignaz Semmelweis, a doctor in Hungary, noted that if he cleaned his hands with a chlorinated lime solution in the maternity ward after dissecting a corpse, it drastically reduced fatal childbed fever. GFWC Intermediate League Lends Assistance with Antiques Show and Other Community Projects
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is an international organization founded by Jane Cunningham Croly on April 24, 1890. The local chapter, GFWC Intermediate League, started in Butler in 1950. It was created as a club for women whose ages fell between those of the junior and senior women’s clubs. A candidate for membership should be at least 21 years of age.
