On June 8, Barbara Farina, 86, of McCandless Township, passed away peacefully. She was surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Farina was a well-known, upstanding resident in the North Hills community.
Together with her late husband, Frank, who had a 38-year career as a music educator and served as chairman of the North Allegheny Music Department, Barbara shared a deep appreciation for music. After Frank’s passing in 2012, the family established the Farina Foundation, with Barbara proudly serving as president.
Under her leadership, the Foundation furthered its mission of placing musical instruments in the hands of children who would otherwise not have access, supporting schools, community organizations, and young musicians throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania and beyond.
In honoring Frank and Barbara’s legacy, the Foundation remains dedicated to supporting musical education and fulfilling the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the power of music.
Barbara influenced many as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She touched countless lives and will be fondly remembered. May she rest in peace.
