Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) and UPMC are part of a multi-institution team awarded up to $39.3 million from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H.) They’re developing a wearable monitoring system that could give labor and delivery teams a clearer picture of fetal health in real time. OMEGA (Optical, Mechanical and Electrical Global Assessment) of fetal hypoxia, is being developed as part of ARPA-H’s Making Obstetrics Care Smart program.

Clear Thoughts Foundation (CTF) announced the selection and funding of its newest CTF Consortium research team, marking a significant milestone in CTF’s continued commitment to accelerating breakthrough dementia research throughout 2026-2027.  The newly funded research will investigate whether FDA-approved and clinically established medications, including Amlexanox, Bosutinib, Glutathione Disulfide, and Metformin, can be repurposed to protect critical brain connections associated with cognitive decline.


On July 15, the Cranberry Artist Network had the opening for the " Summer Night with Monet" Show at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. The following awards were bestowed: Marian Salade first place, Gina Judy second place, and Shauna McChesney third place. Mary Mason, Linda Kirby, and Elaine Heitser received honorable mentions. James Warmbrodt and Nicollette Tolomeo-Germain were also honored.


More than $2 million for vital improvement projects will be awarded in the 28th Legislative District through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). Funding will support the Township of Pine - $752,120 for the construction of a new parking lot to meet current facility needs and support the planned expansion of the Pine Community Center. North Allegheny School District received $1.25 million for an expansion and additions to its indoor swimming facility.
