The 2nd Annual Education Expo held Sunday, February 19, 2006,
at the Northway Mall was a huge success. Over 25 local
schools and businesses had an opportunity to showcase their institutions
and expertise to several hundred visitors interested in educational
opportunities within our community.
State Senator Jane
Orie spoke about the importance of the Expo and recognized Northern
Connection Magazine and the Northway
Mall for acknowledging the
significance of education, and promoting the many excellent learning
resources available to the children in our community.
Orie said, "The
Education Expo promotes an environment of making choices which
is something that leads to personal responsibility…by
making a choice among the different schools present here, the
students are demonstrating personal responsibility and commitment
to their own educational growth."
"All parents want
the best education for their children." Orie continued. "It
is a rare event in which families are presented in one place
with school options that allow them to find a program which best serves
the needs of their children. Both the parents and children
present at the Education Expo here will find the perfect match
among the many schools and activities present from across the
North Hills."
Orie noted, "It is a pleasure to be able
to participate in this great event and to partner with Northern
Connection Magazine to enhance the
education of our youth."
Hundreds
of visitors to the Education Expo were not only informed about
the opportunities available from the vendors, but were also entertained
by schools bands, choirs, and cheerleaders from some of the participating
schools at the Expo.
